You can only imagine the truth

“Atonement” begins on joyous gossamer wings, and descends into an abyss of tragedy and loss. Its opening scenes in an English country house between the wars are like a dream of elegance, and then a 13-year-old girl sees something she misunderstands, tells a lie and destroys all possibility of happiness in three lives, including her own.

The structure of the McEwan novel and this film directed by Joe Wright is relentless. How many films have we seen that fascinate in every moment and then, in the last moments, pose a question about all that has gone before, one that forces us to think deeply about what betrayal and atonement might really entail?

Wright, who also directed Knightley in his first film, “Pride and Prejudice,” shows a mastery of nuance and epic, sometimes in adjacent scenes. In the McEwan novel, he has a story that can hardly fail him and an ending that blindsides us with its implications. This is one of the year’s best films, a certain best picture nominee.

تتوالى الأحداث بسرعة في بداية الفيلم ليبرهن لنا الكاتب أن رؤية المشهد نفسه من زاوية أخرى و بعيون أخرى تغيير كل المعطيات و يطرح فكرة أن ما تراه من أعلى هو ليس بالضرورة الواقع و أن العيون تخدع أحيانا

فهاهي أبنة العاشرة من العمر و بعد تعرضها لسلسة من المشاهد الخادعة و بعد كذبة تكذبها تغيير بذلك حياة ثلاثة أشخاص للأبد و منهم حياتها هي

الفيلم أكثر من رائع و يتميز بجمال الصورة و الألوان

الفيلم ينتهي بأسئلة عديدة حول الحقيقة و كيف أن تقاطع الأقدار و أحداث صغيرة ممكن أن تغيير من حياة الا

و بين أداء متميز لكل من

و اخراج متفرد للمخرج و الذي تميز بروعة طريقة عرض المشاهد

الفيلم و بجدارة ترشح للعديد من الجوائز و فاز بالكثير منها

و هو قد كان جدير بالترشح لجائزة أفضل فيلم بالأوسكار

As the case progresses, Kenzie and Gennaro face drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they finally solve the case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that tears them apart

Anytime a movie can get you to pause and consider a moral dilemma (what would I have done?) while watching it definitely deserves a high mark in my book!! This movie showed the very raw, mean streets of Boston’s underbelly and didn’t sugar-coat anything. I liked that it was real and not made all pretty for film as in so many other films of late. I have/will recommend this movie to all my friends. Kudos to Casey Affleck, Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris. This was, so far, the best movie I’ve seen in 2007. I haven’t been impressed with Ben Affleck in front of the camera, but maybe he’s found his niche - behind the camera? Just go see it

بعد اختطاف أماندا ذات الأربع سنوات تتدخل خالتها و تستعين بمحققين خاصيين لحل القضية , يعترف المحققين و المرتبطين بعلاقة حب بأنهم ليسا أهلا ذو خيرة بهذا النوع من القضايا و لكن الخالة تصر و ذلك لسببين الأول أنهما ليسا من الشرطة و الثاني أنهما يعيشان في الحي ذاته و على علم بوحشية المكان و أسراره .و تبدأ رحلتهما للوصول الى المجرم و بعد حل القضية و اللغز يكتشفات انهما يوجهان معضلة أكبر و أخطر و التي ستفرقهما هم في نهاية المطاف.

الفيلم يستوقفك ليحرك بالنهاية في داخلك سؤال ( ماذا كنت لأفعل) حيث أن المشاهدين يواجهون معضلة أخلاقية تعتبر اهم ايجابيات الفيلم وذلك عدا عن نقله للواقع دون أي تجميل أو تغيير

the movie is one of the coolest movies, the acting is amazing espically Casey Affleck, i have to admit he over ran his brother by many miles, he is soo good…not to forget also the amazing Brad Pitt…and his role in this movie as Jesse James. the one thing i couldnt understand is how come this movie were not nominated for any Oscar Prices in 2007.

i dont know what to comment more…..it is just an amazing film, Javier Bardem….this man is great, but actully it lacked the music, there must be some music in it, on the other hand the directing was amazing and all actors and actresses in the supporting roles were amazing too.

A memory inside a memory, Memento is a complicated head spinning adventure. Award winning Guy Pearce plays Leonard, who is determined to avenge his wives murder. However, unable to remember anything that happens day-to-day due to a condition he sustained, short term memory loss, he has to write himself note after note that still don’t mean anything after he falls asleep. The film goes back in time to reveal each little bit of the puzzle as he tries to find out the person who killed his wife and makes the audience feel just as confused as he is. The narrative closely follows a phone call Pearce has in which he talks about Sammy Jankis a former client of his who he believed had the same condition. The film takes an unexpected twist as the two characters have a lot more in common than is initially put across. Nominated for 2 Oscars this film is a definite must see for anyone who enjoys a mystery.
