The story of the movie follows two heros till the point they meet at the end of the movie
Denzel Wshington as Frank Lucas who after the death of his employer and mentor establishes himself as the number one importer of heroin in the Harlem district of Manhattan and thats by coming up with a unique way of importing the drugs into the United States from Asia .
The other man is Russel Crow as Richie Roberts the dedicated and honest policeman who heads up a joint narcotics task force with the Federal government.Denzel Washington delivers a marvelous performance of a man calm and patient yet heart-stopping ferocious at some points, fearless and ambitious but likable as always. His performances are always incredible, he’s a great actor, the greatest afro-American actor of all time i dare to say, it’s simply a pleasure to watch him in any role.

Russell Crowe requested tape recordings of Richie Roberts speaking in order to match his voice mannerisms accurately.
While filming on-location in the Chiang Mai province of Thailand, Ridley Scott hired many extras from the local villages, some of whom were actual participants in the drug-running operation of Frank Lucas during the Vietnam War.
Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt were director Ridley Scott and producer Brian Grazer’s first two choices to portray Richie Roberts. Crowe was ultimately cast in the role.
According to Ridley Scott, this was one of the most grueling shoots of his career, logistically integrating 360 scenes over 180 separate locations.
دنزل واشنطن و بتمثيله المتميز جدا و في أحد أقوى أدواره يقوم بدور فرانك لوكاس الذي استطاع و بذكائه تأسيس مملكة بيه للهيروين و ذلك بعد ابتكاره لطريقة ميزة لتهريب الهيروين الى أمريكا من فيتنام
و الرجل الثاني هو راسل كرو بدور ريتشي روبرتس رجل الشرطة المستقيم الذي يحاول البحث و الامساك برؤوس تجارة الهيروين في البلاد
الفيلم من أفضل أفلام العام
و استطاع المخرج و باتقان نقل المشاهد الى السبعينات بكل التفاصيل و الأجواء
أداء الممثلين كان مميزا جدا و حاز الفيلم على جوائز و ترشيحات عديدة
و منها ترشيحة لجائزة أفضل ممثلة دور ثاني ل روبي دي والدة فرانك لوكاس
و أفضل انجاز في فن الاخراج للعام

الفيلم جميل جدا
و حتى لغير هواة هذا النوع من الافلام
ما لفت نظري بالفيلم هو أنه يظهرأن الانسان ليس كتلة موحدة اما كتلة خير أو شر
بل هو خليط
فهاهو رجل الشرطة المستقيم و النزيه جدا يخون زوجته و يهمل طفله الوحيد
و هاهو رجل العصابات و تاجر المخدرات فرانك لوكاس يقدم المساعدات و يقوم بارضاء أمه لأخر الحدود و وفي لزوجته
و من أجمل السناريو بالفيلم برأيي هو مقطع المحاكمة و حديث زوجة الشرطي ريتشي عنه
و أيضا المقطع المؤثر لمرشحة الأوسكار والدة فرانك لوكاس و تمثيلها الملفت للنظر رغم صغر مساحة الدور

استخدام الترانيم و الموسيقى بمقطع خروجه من الكنيسة كان ملفت و رائع
التعبير بالموسيقى عن تغيير العصر و مرور الزمن في أخر مقطع من الفيلم كان ملفتا أيضا
